Grand Rapids Drive tip off open house
The area’s newest minor league sports team is hosting an open house tonight.
The free event by the Grand Rapids Drive is at The DeltaPlex arena in Grand Rapids from 6-8 p.m.
The open house will feature a slam-dunk contest, as well as Drive Dancers, a kids zone and giveaways throughout the night.
The dunk contest will feature 2013 NCAA Slam Dunk Contest winner Doug Anderson.
“We are excited to give fans a small glimpse of the experience we can offer this season, and this event will show that the Grand Rapids Drive can provide entertainment for fans of all ages,” said Wes Weir, vice president, Grand Rapids Drive.
Merchandise will be available, including T-shirts, and Drive partner Terryberry will be on site.
Former Detroit Pistons Rick Mahorn and Earl Cureton will be at the event.
The Pistons mascot Hooper and other local mascots will attend the open house: the West Michigan Whitecaps’ Crash, Grand Rapids Griffins’ Griff and Western Michigan University’s Buster.
The Drive will also give fans the opportunity to see various seating options at The DeltaPlex, including VIP courtside suites, row 1 seats, Hollywood seats and other select season ticket packages.
Season ticket holders will be able to attend a private Select-a-Seat event prior to the open house.
Season ticket packages start at $192.
