Dealer expands with used car dealership
A car dealer is expanding in one of its existing markets by opening a used-car dealership.
Todd Wenzel Automotive said yesterday that it will open the used-car dealership in Hudsonville in the Lake Michigan Auto Center building it now owns, at 4130 32nd Ave.
The 7,000-square-foot space, which will be renovated, will be called the Todd Wenzel Pre-Owned Superstore. It will be the dealer’s second location in the city and fourth in the state.
The dealer plans to maintain an inventory of more than 400 used vehicles and create about 20 jobs.
Todd Wenzel Automotive expects to open the Pre-Owned Superstore on Oct. 1.
The dealer also said that its GM Certified inventory at Todd Wenzel Chevrolet in Hudsonville will be moved to the new used-car dealership to make room for an expanded truck center.
Exisiting car site
Wenzel said that he was “delighted” to work with Lake Michigan Credit Union on the transaction concerning the credit union's car-leasing site.
“They were very professional,” Wenzel said. “We enjoy a fantastic relationship and look forward to having them as our neighbor at their branch next door.”
Sandy Kelinksi, CEO of Lake Michigan Credit Union, said that the building was originally intended to be a retail outlet for the credit union’s lease vehicle returns.
“Now that we’re no longer as focused on leasing, we felt this business segment would be better served by those who specialize in automobile retail sales,” Kelinksi said. “Partnering with Todd Wenzel Automotive has been a pleasure, and we wish them the best of success going forward.”
