Ramen noodle bar warms downtown
A business dedicated to ramen noodles is coming downtown.
The Bandit Queen plans to open this summer and serve a variety of dishes with the Japanese noodles, at 117B S Division Ave. S., according to its Facebook page.
The bar will feature Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, French and vegetarian dishes, and it plans to have a bowl club.
The bar is expected to be open late.
“Our style is based on old trade route culture, sharing the mysteries of our travels and the bounty of our spice trade with our favorite port of call, downtown Grand Rapids,” says the bar’s Indiegogo crowdfunding page.
The Bandit Queen reached its fundraising goal and raised more than $15,000 on the platform last month.
The Bandit Queen marks another restaurant by chef Tory O’Haire, who’s the owner of Propaganda Donuts and chef and consultant at The Starving Artist.
“With the early success of our first project, Propaganda Doughnuts, we're really demonstrating the value in interesting, small-scale quality food and its contribution to a vibrant downtown life,” the page says.
“We're working hard to support and develop an area of downtown that used to be a powerful commercial strip, but has, over the years, fallen into disenfranchisement.”
