A developer has completed a fully leased outlet mall in the Bluegrass State.

Horizon Group Properties in Norton Shores said last week that The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass has opened in Simpsonville, Ken., at 1155 Buck Creek Rd.

The mall is about 375,000 square feet and features about 90 stores and restaurants.

The project, which began construction last spring, was co-developed by Horizon Group Properties and CBL & Associates Properties in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass is the only outlet center in the state, according to Horizon Group Properties.

About six million visitors per year are expected to visit the mall.

The mall is expected to draw shoppers from Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.

“The center is working with many of the area hotel and tourism partners to provide day trips and other shopping packages,” said Gary Skoien, CEO, Horizon Group Properties.

Horizon Group Properties said the mall, which has created about 1,000 jobs, is expected to generate more than $130 million in annual sales, which will annually generate about $8 million of sales taxes for the state.
