A hard cider maker is stretching its distribution footprint out of state.

Sietsema Orchards in Ada said yesterday that it will distribute its hard cider in the Chicago market, starting next month.

“Metropolitan Chicago and its suburbs are home to over 8 million people — that’s a lot of restaurants and tap handles that could be pouring our cider,” said Andy Sietsema, owner, Sietsema Orchards.

The ciders will be available on draft at the Five Star Bar, The Publican, Villains Bar & Grill and Northdown Taproom, which will feature a tap takeover on Sept. 10.

The cidery will work with MSV Distribution in the market.

Sietsem Orchards has expanded its cider sales throughout Michigan the last two years and will move into Chicago as "the next natural step," like many other beverage companies.

Ciders by Vander Mill Ciders in Spring Lake and Virtue Ciders in Fennville are also sold in Chicago.
