Several organizations and people across the region have been named Leaders in Joy by Make-A-Wish Michigan.

Make-A-Wish Michigan said last week that the designations are part of its 30th anniversary.

The nonprofit said each Leader in Joy has “played an integral role in helping to bring hope, strength and joy to Michigan children with a life-threatening medical condition.”

Leaders in Joy have been recognized at events throughout the year, culminating with Wish Ball Southeast Michigan on Nov. 8 at the MGM Grand Detroit.

“Our Leaders in Joy have been game changers for our organization and represent everyone who makes a difference in the lives of our wish children,” said Karen Davis, president and CEO, Make-A-Wish Michigan. “They have impacted our ability to deliver our mission, and we are so grateful for their tremendous passion and support.”

Make-A-Wish Michigan said that since 1984, it has granted more than 7,500 wishes to Michigan children. It expects to grant its 8,000th wish this year.
