A retailer has rolled out a “first-of-its-kind” initiative that blends its stores and online presence to help customers make everyday meals.

Meijer in Grand Rapids said last month that it has rolled out its Ready! for You program at each of its 213 stores.

The program features Ready! for You-branded meal displays that combine food items from various manufacturers into ready-to-go meals for a family of four. Customers can taste what's on display at weekly sampling demos.

As part of the initiative, Meijer is creating online videos with "quick and simple" food ideas and posting Ready! for You recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner on its Pinterest boards.

"One of the biggest hurdles that prevents families from cooking at home is finding new meal and snack ideas that are affordable, delicious and quick to prepare," said Shari Steinbach, healthy living advisor, Meijer.

The meals cost an average of $12-$15 and are “all part of weekly sales promotions.”

"Families are busier than ever and feeling squeezed for both time and money," said Randy Stewart, group VP of foods, Meijer.
