An office furniture maker is planning to hire up to 50 employees for its manufacturing team in the region.

Herman Miller will host a recruiting event in Zeeland on Nov. 6, from 2:30-7 p.m., at its location at 855 East Main Ave.

The roles

Positions are available at all three of the company’s locations in the region, which are located in Zeeland and Holland.

“We are looking to fill positions on all shifts,” said Christina Penfield, HR consultant, Herman Miller.

Penfield said open positions include manufacturing associates, machine operators, material handlers and skilled trades openings.

Depending on the position, the average starting wage for the openings is $12-14 an hour.

Open house

The open house-style event will include a number of stations where applicants can learn more about the positions.

Managers will also be on hand to answer questions.

“We will also be conducting high-level tours of the manufacturing facility to showcase our new equipment and our clean, bright and safe working environment,” Penfield said.

Penfield noted the positions include a competitive benefits package, including a 401k-company match, profit sharing, bonus program and 100-percent tuition reimbursement.

Additionally, employees can take advantage of on-site fitness centers, which are also open to employees’ families, fitness classes, such as yoga or spinning, a formal development program and flex programs.

“Benefits start on a new hire's first day,” Penfield said. “We also offer annual health insurance premium discounts.”

Computers will be available on-site for candidates to apply.
