A new beer-focused restaurant is opening to the public tonight.

The 64-tap Gravity will host an official grand-opening ceremony with the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce at 4 p.m., before commencing with a happy hour until 6 p.m. and its regular hours, closing at midnight tonight.

Gravity is located in Grand Rapids off of the East Beltline, near the I-196 interchange, at 3210 Deposit Dr. SE.

The taphouse is newest restaurant in the RedWater Restaurant Group, which includes Reds on the River, Rush Creek Bistro, FireRock Grille, Cork and Vintage.

“We are excited to bring Gravity to Grand Rapids,” said Craig Smith, COO, RedWater Restaurant Group. “We have researched this concept within other major metropolitan markets, and for Grand Rapids, a craft beer taphouse like Gravity, we feel, is perfect.”

The menu

The 64 taps will pour a wide variety of beers from local, national and international breweries. Occasionally, there will eight to 10 taps taken over by breweries.

Gravity’s bar also features an extensive wine and cocktail menu.

The food menu will feature “kryptonite” — a caramel-corn mixture — white truffle tater tots, pizzas, mac and cheese, burgers, sandwiches and full entrees.

“We want Gravity to be an experience that guests will remember and learn from,” said Kristin Kent, general manager, Gravity.

Kent added that the taphouse's menu offers food-and-beer pairings to help customers "choose craft brews that enhance the flavors" of its "all-made-from-scratch menu.”

Leadership team

Gravity is led by an all-women team: Kent, the general manager; Executive Chef Laurel Deruda; and House Certified Cicerone and Beer Director Angela Steil.

“I’m excited by this all-women team, who have the energy, creativity, drive and enthusiasm to help make Gravity a memorable destination restaurant,” Smith said.
