The region’s construction industry recently honored some the best projects of the year at the Excellence in Construction Awards.

The Associated Builders and Contractors of West Michigan produced the annual event earlier this month at Keystone Community Church in Ada.

The event recognized firms and projects across 27 categories in the subcontracting skilled trades and construction management/general contracting construction categories, as well as 65 construction projects, eight Safety Award of Excellence nominees and five ICON nominees.

This year’s ICON award was given to Peter Kok, an attorney at Miller Johnson, and the Safety Award of Excellence was presented to Grand Rapids-based Wolverine Building Group.

“Our members take projects from the conceptual to reality and demonstrate the highest standards of estimating, project management, supervision, skilled trades, safety and leadership,” said Paul Lemley, chairman of the chapter’s board.

Lemley added that the awards are a “great example” of the membership’s “commitment to quality construction in West Michigan and throughout the country.”
