A pizzeria is partnering with a brewery in the region.

Topshelf Pizza & Pub opened in the Noble Building in Muskegon, next to Pigeon Hill Brewing, a few weeks ago, at 500 W. Western Ave.

Topshelf’s menu features pizza, subs and appetizers, as well as 12 taps of craft beer and a number of liquors. The food portion of the menu now doubles as Pigeon Hill’s food menu.

Pigeon Hill customers stop at Topshelf to place orders, pick up food and then carry it back over to the brewery, said Jim Noel, Topshelf’s owner.

Noel said that the partnership was made over Topshelf pizza and drinks about two years ago.

Topshelf Pizza & Pub is still based at its other space in Muskegon, at 2155 E. Apple Ave.

“We got to talking one night. . . . And I said I’d be interested in doing their food," Noel said. “One thing led to another, and two years later, we’re next door to each other. It’s working out very well.”

Topshelf’s new space, which is about 1,300 square feet, seats about 50, while Pigeon Hill seats more than 100, Noel said.

Noel praised Pigeon Hill’s products and said the crossover between their two businesses is exciting to see for the area.

“It keeps people on our end of the street and to come to our location as a one-stop location,” Noel said.

“The biggest reason I wanted to open that location was because of all the breweries opening downtown. They tend to draw from a wider geographic area. And I see downtown Muskegon as a growing market. It’s been developed very nicely, and there’s a lot of new businesses opening up.”
