Founders Brewing releases KBS
Founders Brewing Co. will dedicate a whole week to the limited release of one of the highest-rated beers in the world.
Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids said yesterday that it will host KBS Week from March 9-14 to release its limited Kentucky Breakfast Stout.
The beer won’t be available to the rest of Founders’ distribution footprint until March 30.
Kentucky Breakfast Stout is an imperial stout with loads of coffee and chocolate. The base beer is then aged in the caves beneath Grand Rapids for a year.
Several websites and publications, including RateBeer.com, have listed KBS as the best, or one of the best, beers in the world.
Tickets for the bottle release of the beer will be released on Feb. 14 at 11 a.m., with proceeds from the tickets heading to Grand Rapids Whitewater.
In past years, demand for the release has crashed the brewery’s website.
There will be a five-day period for pickups at Founders Brewing, with tickets for specific days. A limit of one ticket per person has been implemented.
A month later, on March 14, Founders will tap the beer and pour it throughout the day to celebrate the end of KBS Week.
The rest of the city will be involved in the week-long celebration as well.
Fifteen bars will tap the rare beer throughout the week, three each day.
Hotels will also offer packages for out-of-town visitors coming to pick up the beer.
