Palisade Collection earns healthcare furniture award

Nemschoff’s and Herman Miller Healthcare’s Palisade Collection has earned Interior Design Magazine’s Best of Year Award in the Healthcare Furniture category. The collection encourages guest participation in the healing process by creating an accommodating and responsive setting within the patient room. It is also designed for use in other areas within health systems, such as lounges, waiting rooms and public spaces.


Andrews Hooper Pavlik PLC announced the merger of the Owosso office of Demis & Wenzlick PC into AHP. Twenty-one people will be added to AHP’s current staff of more than 100. The principals and staff of Demis & Wenzlick will continue to operate from the Owosso office. It is AHP’s seventh office, including one in Grand Rapids. 


MINDSCAPE at Hanon McKendry announced the firm has re-branded as MINDSCAPE and will continue to be led by co-founders Pete Brand, CEO, and Paul Ferrier, CSO. MINDSCAPE will move to 601 5th St., Suite 550, in early February on a temporary basis while Copper Rock Construction completes the build-out of its 7,000-square-foot permanent space, expected to be completed by April.


John Walsh has been named partner at Paradigm Design Inc. Walsh has been with the firm 13 years and an associate for the last four years, concentrating his practice in civil engineering.


Chris Dykstra of Pella Windows and Doors by Horne was named a national winner of the 2014 Rookie of the Year award by Pella Corp. He is one of five rookie sales representatives in the country to earn the award.


Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce announced the promotions of Kim McLaughlin to vice president of member and community enrichment, and Latricia Trice to vice president of marketing and communications.

The Hispanic Center of Western Michigan announced Roberto Torres has been selected as its executive director. Torres recently served as CEO of T&R Group LLC, a business consultancy focused on economic growth in the Northern Ohio region, on whose behalf he served as executive director of the Northwest Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Rua Associates LLC announced the successful sale of West Michigan-based residential cleaning business Cascade Fresh Cleaning, which was acquired by local individuals. Cascade Fresh Cleaning is the largest independently and locally owned residential cleaning business in West Michigan.


Triangle Associates Inc. has appointed Jack R. Wallen project manager and Lisa C. Boidy executive administrator. Wallen’s responsibilities include the coordination of pre-construction activities, management of construction services and contracts, and the oversight of project schedules. Boidy will provide technical and administrative assistance to the chairman of the board/CEO, president, senior vice president and vice president of business development. 


The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance announced Western Michigan University's Nonprofit Leadership Program has won the Sprint Program Excellence Award.


ASTI Environmental will mark its 30th anniversary Feb. 1. Since its founding by Tom Wackerman and Peter Collins, the company has diversified to provide environmental investigation, remediation, compliance and restoration services to industrial, commercial, institutional and governmental clients nationwide.


MKS Wealth Advisors of Raymond James in Holland announced financial advisor Ilse K. Saewert has earned the designation Certified Divorce Financial Analyst from the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts.

Norris, Perné & French has appointed Lon Swartzentruber its new managing director. Swartzentruber will initiate new services to meet client needs for philanthropic, estate and legacy planning in conjunction with the firm’s investment counsel.

Principal Financial Group announced Jeff Hayes has joined the Grand Rapids office of the Great Lakes Business Center. Hayes will serve as a financial advisor and Princor Registered Representative to work with individuals and business owners.


Spectrum Health has elected Mark Murray, Meijer Inc., to serve on its system board of directors for a three-year term. The system board provides oversight and strategic direction to the health system, which includes Spectrum Health Hospitals, Spectrum Health Medical Group and Priority Health. 


Sunset Retirement Communities & Services in Jenison announced Ben Leavell has been appointed administrator of Brookcrest and Steve Bossenbroek has been appointed chief financial officer of Sunset.


BDV Consulting in Wayland announced the opening of a legal nurse consulting business. Owner Beth DeVries is a certified legal nurse consultant who offers attorneys and multi-disciplinary teams expert medical insight for legal cases involving health, illness or injury.

Dickinson Wright PLLC announced the election of attorney Nicolas M. Morano as a member in its Grand Rapids office, where his practice focuses on real estate and corporate law.

Miller Johnson welcomed Timothy C. Gutwald as a member in its Grand Rapids office. Gutwald will focus on the health care providers group, employment health care group, health care reimbursement group and employment litigation practice, and will represent and counsel health care clients on regulatory compliance, reimbursement, medical staff, peer review and employment matters.
