A developer is building a roughly $3-million industrial facility in a business park.

Grand Rapids-based Robert Grooters Development Co. said last month that it has begun work on a 100,000-square-foot industrial building in Grand Rapids, just west of Ford airport, at the Aerotech Industrial Park, at 4577 44th St SE.

Wolverine Building Group in Grand Rapids, a long-time collaborator with Grooters, has broken ground on the vacant 10-acre site.

The work should be completed in August.

Grooters designed the building to fit with the warehouse theme of the business park, said Robert Grooters, owner, Robert Grooters Development Co.

Weeke North America, a maker of manufacturing machinery, will take up more than half of the building and is expected to grow into more of it, said Todd Johns, business developer, Robert Grooters Development, Co.

Weeke will lease the space and use it as a plant.

Weeke is currently housed at a Grooters facility in Grand Rapids at 4470 44th St. SE and will be moving out, making room for an unnamed tenant that’s leased the space as a warehouse, Johns said.
