Authorities are investigating after an overnight fire destroyed a vacant factory in Grand Rapids.

The fire broke out around 10 p.m. yesterday at the former site of Oliver Racing Parts, at 1025 Clancy Ave. NE.

The building has been deemed a total loss.

It's still unclear what caused the fire.

The roof and other parts of the building collapsed as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Sehlmeyer said no one was inside the building at the time, and all firefighters have been accounted for.

He said some neighboring homes and businesses could be affected by downed power lines.
