A Big Four accounting firm is moving into downtown.

KPMG, which offers audit, tax and advisory services, said yesterday that it has secured a lease for an under-construction office space at 99 Monroe, at 99 Monroe Ave. NW.

The office will serve the West Michigan market.

About 60 employees will be housed in the space, which KPMG said it needs to accommodate its growth.

The firm also said that it plans to expand its services in the region by offering "more emerging, technology-based solutions."

The office is scheduled to be up and running on April 27, and the firm is planning to host a grand-opening celebration on June 4.

Heather Paquette, Michigan managing partner at KPMG, said that although the firm has served clients in the Grand Rapids market for “a number of years now, our needs and services have grown, necessitating a move to a new, larger innovative physical space."

“We have a strong commitment to the Grand Rapids market and wanted this move downtown to reflect that commitment,” Paquette said.

Franklin Partners, which has a number of holdings in West Michigan, purchased 99 Monroe, formerly the Campau Square building, back in June 2012.
