The farmers market at the Downtown Market is opening on Saturday.

About 35 farmers and fresh food artisans will open their stands in the market’s Outdoor Shed, which is located at 435 Ionia Ave. SW.

This year, the outdoor farmers market, in its third season, has new hours of operation. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday from May 23 to Sept. 19.

Vendors will offer seasonal produce, along with locally raised meat and dairy products, locally made baked goods, honey, maple syrup, sweet treats and more.

A Moveable Feast food truck will also be on site.

There will also be an outdoor farmers market bar, where visitors can purchase local craft beer, PBR and Old Style and cocktails using farmers’ herbs, fruits, vegetable and flowers. The drinks will vary weekly.

The opening will include the first of the season’s Chefs at the Market and Kids at the Market programs.
