Downtown hotel joins Hilton chain
A downtown hotel is joining a major international hotel chain.
Amway Grand Plaza yesterday announced its affiliation with the Curio Collection by Hilton, which will give the hotel access to Hilton Worldwide’s “robust reservation program and HHonors rewards.”
The hotel will begin collecting reservations with Curio in 2016, when it will be known as The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, while continuing to be owned and managed by AHC+Hospitality.
Following the transition, the property will no longer offer reservations through Preferred Hotels.
Amway Grand Plaza officials said Curio Collection was an “ideal choice,” noting the affiliation allows the hotel property to “retain its historic identity, design and culture while reaching new customers in Hilton’s network.”
“We are excited to welcome even more visitors from all over the world to enjoy our signature hospitality, newly renovated guest rooms, superior event space and award-winning restaurants,” said Rick Winn, president of AHC+Hospitality, owner and manager of Amway Grand Plaza.
About Curio Collection
Curio Collection is a global brand of distinctive upscale and luxury hotels from Hilton Worldwide, hand-picked for travelers who seek “local discovery and authentic experiences.”
“It’s fitting we mark our one-year launch milestone of the Curio Collection with the addition of a grand old dame like the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel,” said Matt Wehling, senior vice president of development-North America, Hilton Worldwide.
Wehling noted the Amway Grand Plaza is one of the nation’s oldest hotels.
There are 12 hotels in the Curio Collection in addition to the Amway Grand Plaza.
