A Chicago-based tech firm has entered the West Michigan market.

Converged Technology Professionals Inc., a unified communications and mobility solutions providerthat services a wide range of organizations for mobility, voice and data needs, expanded into Michigan by opening an office in Grand Rapids last month.

The leased office space, located at 250 Monroe Ave. NW, Grand Rapids, has three employees: a sales person, technology engineer and trainer, said Isabel Florence, marketing director for Converged Technology Professionals.

“If the market calls for it, we’ll add more (employees.),” she said.

“We have a sales team in place, in addition to dedicated operations and engineering staff,” said Joe Rittenhouse, president of business development for Converged Technology Professionals.

Converged Technology Professionals currently has two offices in Illinois, one in Indiana and one in Wisconsin, Florence said.

“Right now we’re a Midwestern company, so we evaluated where we could go and where the market is underserved. We saw an opening in Michigan,” she said.

“It depends on how things go. This is just our start with Michigan. Growing and expanding would be great,” she added.

The move also allows Converged Technology Professionals to be one of the first Shore Tel’s Gold Champion partners in Michigan with cloud capabilities.

“Being one of the first ShoreTel Gold Champion partners to sell both ShoreTel Sky (cloud) and Premises solutions will give Converged Technology Professionals a strategic advantage in the Michigan market,” said Heather Tenuto, vice president of worldwide channel programs and sales enablement at ShoreTel.
