Deck brand rolls out certified pro program

A maker of deck railings and accessories is rolling out a certified pro program to contractors that’s designed to help them “drive their deck sales and installation services.”

Deckorators, a brand of Grand Rapids-based Universal Forest Products, said last week that it has launched a new “preferred-status program,” Certified Pro.

Each Certified Pro is job-site trained by an expert Deckorators representative to sell and install the company’s products.

Each Certified Pro will receive a welcome kit and marketing tools to help them take advantage of several benefits.

“The program benefits are numerous,” said Chris Camfferman, director of product management and merchandising, Universal Forest Products.


Upon completion, Certified Pros earn points by tracking the Deckorators products they use for their projects.

Points are redeemable for promotional items or cash back.


Certified Pros receive a Pro Profile webpage and a preferred contractor listing on, with a distinctive icon next to their name, highlighting their expertise and certification credentials.

The website “shares hundreds of leads” with its list of vetted, licensed and insured installation professionals.

Additionally, Certified Pros have "a direct line of communication" to the Deckorators team.

They’ll be “the first to know about new products and promotions prior to official launch,” and they’re encouraged to provide feedback on ways to improve the Deckorators product line and programs.

“We’re excited about the potential these advantages offer our professional Deckorators installers,” Camfferman said.
