A Williams-Sonoma brand that sells furniture and home décor items has opened its first store in the West Michigan market.

New York-based West Elm hosted a grand-opening celebration last week as it opened the doors to its new 10,000-square-foot location in Grand Rapids at Breton Village.

The retailer operates another Michigan store in Birmingham.

The store offers complimentary design services and a range of home décor items: bedding, rugs, lighting, mirrors, frames, baskets, vases, bath accessories, dinnerware and more.

West Elm will also feature craft goods from 10 Michigan-based artists and creators as part of the chain’s LOCAL initiative: All Things Grow, Arthur's Plaid Pants, Cellar Door Soaps, June & December, Meant To Be Sent, Reed Wilson Design, Revisions Design Studio, The Pear Tree Press, Type Shy, Whimsy + Wild.

“Grand Rapids is a city known for its rich history in furniture manufacturing and craftsmanship," said Jim Brett, president, West Elm. “West Elm is proud to expand its presence in the state and support the new LOCAL inductees, who will join an already impressive list of Michigan-based artists and designers.”
