A fast-food chain focused on chicken is planning to enter the West Michigan market.

Chick-fil-A, Inc. has purchased the site of the former Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Holland, at 2332 North Park Dr., which is right off U.S. 31 near the Holland Town Center.

The 6,009-square-foot space was sold for about $1.175 million, said Steve Millman, president of Grand Rapids-based NorthStar Commercial, today.

The site has been vacant since the summer of 2011.

Aaron Eichenberg, an agent and broker with NorthStar Commercial, represented the seller, a private investment group out of Florida.

Eichenberg said he’s not sure if the new restaurant is going to be run through corporate or a franchisee. He said plans are still preliminary.

He added that Chick-fil-A is working on four or five other locations in the state.

Chick-fil-A serves two Michigan locations in Detroit and Rochester, according to its website.
