The 2014 dealer of the year for Volvo North America has acquired a trailer business.

M&K Truck Centers, with locations in Wyoming and Byron Center, recently announced it has acquired Wyoming-based L&V Trailer Sales Inc., which offers the Wabash National, East, Fontaine and Timpte Trailers lines. M&K can now offer trailers for sale, rent and lease.

M&K, which has a team of more than 500 employees, also absorbed L &V’s staff of 25 employees, including former L&V president Rob Velthouse, who will now serve as general manager for the facility.

L&V Trailer Sales is being rebranded as M&K Truck Centers and will continue to operate out of its 2855 Burlingame Ave. SW location.

“This is such a great opportunity for L&V, and I couldn’t imagine a better pairing than L&V and M&K,” Velthouse said. “Everyone at L&V is looking forward to working with the team at M&K, expanding our product offerings and growing the trailer business.”

M&K owner Ron Meyering is exploring expansion options for M&K Trailer Centers into other territories. There is also a possibility of additional M&K Trailer Center locations.

M&K, which is one of the largest Mack/Volvo dealer groups in the country and winner of the 2014 Volvo North America Dealer of the Year Award, opened its 10th dealership in Des Plaines, Illinois, last month.

“It’s an exciting time for the industry and I believe acquiring L&V is a strategic move for enormous growth potential at M&K,” Meyering said. “These two companies are aligned to provide a comprehensive collection of top quality products, parts and service for our customers.”
