A pair of independent insurance agencies have become one.

Dominion Risk Management in Grand Rapids said this month that it has merged with West Michigan Insurance, which operates offices in Rockford, Hesperia and Shelby.

Both groups provide personal and commercial insurance.

The combined agency will operate as West Michigan Insurance, said Sharon Koop, who was an EVP at Dominion.

Koop said both groups are excited about the opportunities the merger will create.

“We have taken our book of business and merged with West Michigan,” she said. “We merged for more market exposure and support staff."

Koop said there will be “no employee changes, additions or cuts.”

Craig Terpstra, who was president of Dominion Risk Management, said his team is “pleased to partner with such a strong and well-respected organization."
