Biggest career break?
Being promoted after six months at Spectrum Health. They placed their confidence in me to work with the IS team. I loved the leadership perspectives from Jane Gietzen and Patrick O'Hare.
Being selected as the 2012 Young ATHENA. I was so surprised! I love the tenets and work hard to make sure I am living up to them.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
Not everyone is going to like you, deal with it.
How did you make your first dollar?
Working at Jersey Junction in East, starting at 14. I stayed there until I graduated from Catholic Central.
A heart sculpture my sister gave my husband and I right before we got married. It is simple and beautiful and a good reminder to always love first.
Department of Labor Secretary! Past Secretary Solis visited the Hispanic Center a few years back, and it was an amazing experience.
If I were president for a day, I would . . . ?
Ensure paid leave for parents after birth or adoption. I am not a parent but feel this is an issue I would love to advocate more for. I just saw a friend post they love working and love being a parent but that being a working parent is hard.

“The Power of Latino Leadership,” the Latina Network read this as part of our second book club book
Last thing you Googled?
Shopping in Santa Barbara — we are on vacation in California right now!
Your worst habit?
Interrupting people. I get excited while thinking and want to jump in.
To unwind, I like to . . . ?
Have some friends over for dinner or a quick getaway to Chicago or Up North! We were just in Saint Ignace. It was so peaceful.
Argentina is up there. My husband and I never took a honeymoon, so think this will be our 10-year anniversary trip.
I love Italian food. Wish I knew how to make homemade sausage or ravioli.
Person you most admire?
My dad. He gives so much of himself to others. He is very kind and an unassuming leader. This year, he invited my husband, sister and best friend to spend a week with him and my mom near Lake Michigan. He also gives the best advice!
