Major sponsors will be affiliated with ArtPrize next month.

With more than 400,000 visitors last year, international brands Honda and Pantone have jumped onboard to sponsor the world’s largest art competition with experiential, crowdsourced activations for engagement and return on investment.

Other major sponsors of ArtPrize include Meijer, Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University, PNC Bank, Amway and Founders Brewing Co.

Honda

Honda will be the official vehicle of ArtPrize, through West Michigan Honda dealers.

The call-to-action is “Design & Drive Art Contest,” which will see six artist-created, vinyl-wrapped Honda vehicles at Rosa Parks Circle.

"We like to think of Honda as one of the most innovative automobile companies in the world. So when the West Michigan Honda Dealers sought out the opportunity to partner with ArtPrize Seven, all agreed it was a perfect match," said Brad Siegers, president of West Michigan Honda Dealers. "Whether you're a car enthusiast, an art lover or both, we hope our contribution via the Design & Drive Honda vehicles on display will be a nice addition in a whole new medium."

Pantone

A subsidiary of Grand Rapids-based X-Rite Inc., Pantone color experts will use Grand Rapids streets as a canvas, helping differentiate seven ArtPrize areas with sidewalk and street applications.

Included in the applications will be the Pantone Hop Scotch and Pantone Crosswalk, which will encourage visitors to post photos on social media.

Pantone also will sponsor the event’s Critical Discourse series of talks and panel discussions.

The executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, will speak at the Oct. 1 Critical Discourse event.

“As a global leader in color trends, science and technology, we are excited to be a Leadership Sponsor of ArtPrize to help attendees experience and interact with color in new ways through the Pantone Pathways and Crosswalk," said X-Rite President Ron Voigt.

ArtPrize

ArtPrize is a 19-day art competition — Sept. 23-Oct. 11 — with $500,000 worth of prizes to be awarded.

This year’s ArtPrize will feature more than 1,500 pieces of art from artists representing 42 U.S. states and territories.
