Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids is moving its workforce development center to be closer to employers and serve more people.

The Grand Rapids-based nonprofit said this month that it's relocating its Employment Services center from its location near the Medical Mile in downtown Grand Rapids, at 455 Grand Ave. NE, into a space near Centerpointe Mall in Grand Rapids, at 3777 Sparks Dr. SE.

The new office is expected to open in November.

The center's current location is 14,500 square feet, and the space on Sparks Drive SE, which is owned by Lansing-based Peckham is 17,000 square feet, said Jill Wallace, chief marketing and communications officer, Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids

“We are occupying a portion of the building with other tenants,” Wallace said.

The new office will feature about five classrooms, a computer lab, a career center, a nurse aide training lab and multiple study areas.

The office is also located near a bus line and a retail hub, where Goodwill workforce participants could possibly become employed.

“Moving to this new location is an exciting opportunity, not only for our workforce development staff and our participants, but also for our community partners,” Wallace said.
