St. Cecilia schedules ArtPrize music

More than 150 musical acts will perform downtown during ArtPrize.

The ArtPrize 2015 Music Hub, St. Cecilia Music Center, released its schedules of busking sites during the first 12 days of ArtPrize, Sept. 23-Oct. 4.

The busking sites include inside St. Cecilia, inside Women’s City Club, on the Blue Bridge, near Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and Monument Square. The schedule can be found at

Artists slated to perform include Troll for Trout, Nathan Kalish, Charlie Mench, Kevin Kammeraad & Friends, The Accidentals, Fauxgrass, Brian Koenigsknecht and more.

Music prizes

St. Cecilia Music Center will award 10 $1,000 prizes to five musical genres: rock/blues, classical, pop/electronic, jazz and folk/country.

In line with ArtPrize voting, one category winner will be from a popular vote, and the other will come be a “Critics Choice.”

Entries can be heard at listening stations at St. Cecilia.

The critics are: Rich Tupica for rock/blues; Andrew Li for classical; A.J. Paschke for pop/electronic; Lazaro Vega for jazz; and John Sinkevics for folk/country.

Winners from the contest also will receive recording time at Mackinaw Harvest Studios.

Winners will be announced at the Music Awards Party at St. Cecilia on Oct. 15.

Benefit concert

A concert featuring Joshua Davis will benefit St. Cecilia on Oct. 4. Davis was a third-place finisher on the televised competition, “The Voice.” Fauxgrass and Troll for Trout will open the evening.
