Health care exec ranks among 'up-and-comers' in US
A health care executive is considered to be among the 12 health care entrepreneurs and executive “up-and-comers” in the country.
At 37, Christina Freese-Decker, president of Spectrum Health Hospital Group, is being recognized by Modern Healthcare magazine this year as one of the top health care talents under 40.
For the past 30 years, Modern Healthcare has recognized health care professionals nationally for their contributions to their organizations and fields.
Freese-Decker has been employed with Spectrum Health for 13 years, contributing in the areas of strategic planning and development.
In 2014, she was promoted to president of the system’s Hospital Group.
Freese-Decker is responsible for overseeing 12 hospitals and 182 ambulatory and service sites.
Under her leadership in fiscal 2015, Spectrum's Hospital Group attained an operating margin that was $89 million better than what had been budgeted and $97 million better than the previous year, according to a profile in Modern Healthcare.
Richard Breon, Spectrum Health CEO, nominated Freese-Decker for the honor.
“She's somebody who has been successful at every level, and she's now running a $2-billion operation and handling that very well," Breon said.
