An inaugural West Michigan construction award has its winner.

PreBuck was presented with the first Sustainable Construction and Innovation Award, or EXPI Award, last night at The Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville as part of the West Michigan Design and Construction Expo.

The award is given to a company that provides economic, environmental or social benefits through a project, product or service.

PreBuck won for its parapet cap.

Parapet cap

The product replaces lumber and layers of material and fasteners that come together to create a wood parapet cap.

PreBuck’s product is designed to create a more efficient and inexpensive construction method for windows, doors and sill plates.

Each PreBuck parapet cap is custom made to specifications to eliminate waste and save installation time.

Judges chose PreBuck for a variety of reasons: product is designed to not cup, warp or twist over time; engineered as consistent, flat and stable product; cuts the possibility the cap will cause leaks; eliminates job-site waste by 99 percent; and eliminates 98 percent of related manufacturing waste.

PreBuck

The company was started in the garage of founder Brett Schlosser in 2009.

PreBuck products are used in schools, hotels, malls, condominiums, retirement homes and military projects in more than 13 states.
