A nonprofit’s job-placement program will benefit from Wolverine Worldwide's Mega Shoe & Boot Sale this Friday and Saturday.

The footwear maker is hosting the sale at its headquarters in Rockford, located at 9341 Courtland Dr., and the company said it will donate a portion of the proceeds to Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids for its job training and placement services.

Sale

Wolverine said there will be savings of 65 percent and up off retail prices on many brands: Cat Footwear, Harley-Davidson Footwear, Hush Puppies, Keds, Merrell, Saucony, Sebago, Sperry, Stride Rite and Wolverine.

More than 10,000 pairs of shoes will be available.

The sale begins Friday at 10 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m. It re-opens on Saturday at 9 a.m. and runs through 4 p.m.

The company has created a Facebook event page with some more details on the sale.

Job placement

Goodwill provides support and guidance to people in the greater Grand Rapids community at no cost to help them achieve their career goals.

Last year, Goodwill placed more than 700 people into local employment within the eight counties it serves.

“We are honored that Wolverine has selected Goodwill as a partner for this event,” said Jill Wallace, chief marketing and communication officer, Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids.

Michael Bohnsack, Wolverine Worldwide’s director of community engagement, said the company is “committed to making the world a better place.”

“We are thrilled to partner alongside Goodwill Industries to aid in their impact on the West Michigan community,”  Bohnsack said
