A Wisconsin jeweler has its first Michigan store.

Michigan-native Richard Kessler has opened a 6,800-square-foot Kesslers Diamonds in the Bucktown Shopping Center in Grandville, at 3176 44th St. SW.

Kessler started the company in Milwaukee in 1980.

The company says it’s the largest largest seller of diamonds and diamond engagement rings in Wisconsin, where it operates six stores.

The Grandville store will employ 15 people.

The retailer is an employee-owned company through its employee stock ownership plan, or ESOP.

"We're thrilled with the response of people in the Grand Rapids area to our diamonds-only approach," said Kessler, founder and president, Kesslers Diamonds. "The feedback validates our decision to select metro Grand Rapids for our first location outside of Wisconsin."
