A local concrete contractor has a new vice president to lead a division's work in Michigan and Ohio.

Kent Companies in Grand Rapids said last month that it has named Duane Andrus its VP of commercial piering for the territory, including a growing clientele in central Ohio.

Construction background

The firm said Andrus has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry in various capacities: precast concrete, residential construction, engineering, drafting and field installation.

Most recently, Andrus was a sales manager and division manager for the pier lifting division at Kent Companies over the last five years.

The past two years saw Andrus’ territory expand to cover the entire state of Michigan.

He joined the firm in 2009.

Previously, Andrus owned Construction Concepts, an engineering and drafting services firm that serviced precast concrete manufacturers, from 1993-2007.

Andrus graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in industrial and product design and holds an associate’s degree in architectural drafting and architectural CAD/CADD from Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
