Health system names board members
A health care system has added five new board members to its regional governance board.
The new Mercy Health board members, who will begin their terms on Jan. 1, join the board’s original eight members, all of whom were reappointed.
Mercy Health regional governance board members serve staggered terms and can be reaffirmed following the conclusion of their respective terms.
The regional governance board was created 18 months ago. Mercy Health also has two local boards, located in Grand Rapids and Muskegon, which oversee their respective areas.
Mercy Health’s regional governance board members represent a wide range of businesses, higher educational systems, belief systems and walks of life.
They are responsible for “providing a global perspective” for how the health system can fulfill its mission.
“While considering board members, we wanted to ensure that the board reflects the widespread geographical area of the communities we serve, where our patients live and work," said Roger Spoelman, president and CEO of Mercy Health.
