A local sports bar chain is planning to open another location in the region.

Uccello’s Ristorante plans to open a location in Kalamazoo in a recently closed Bob Evans restaurant, at 4400 Stadium Dr.

The company hopes to open the location in the fall.

The opening is part of a 20th-anniversary celebration for Uccello’s, which also features a rebranding for the restaurant and sports bar.

The 5,200-square-foot location will feature “an updated interior,” which will be the model for the chain’s existing and future locations, said Chris Heileman, CEO, Uccello’s.

The operation will be owned and operated by Uccello Hospitality Group founder Faro Uccello, son Sergio Uccello and son-in-law Mario Piccione.

“We’re taking Uccello’s to the next level,” Sergio Uccello said. “It’s really about growing with our business, but still staying true to our grassroots as a company.”

Treystar in Portage and Grand Rapids-based CD Barnes Construction will complete the renovations.

Treystar is the owner and management group of University Commons, the center where the former Bob Evans is located.

CD Barnes has also completed the Uccello’s locations in Grandville and Caledonia.

“Our team is ecstatic to partner on this new Uccello’s location, and we’re eager to deliver the project,” said Todd Oosting, EVP, CD Barnes.
