A local construction firm with multiple divisions has a new president of construction.

Rockford Construction in Grand Rapids said this month that EVP Shane Napper will take over the role, as Tom McGovern solely focuses on his COO duties.

Rockford builds in 44 states and has more than 320 employees.

“As we continue to grow in size and sophistication, our leadership team must grow as well,” said Mike VanGessel, CEO, Rockford Construction.

“Our future is bright, but much work remains. We must continue to raise the bar on our own performance.”

Napper

Napper joined the Rockford team in 1997.

He was named EVP in 2014, after previously holding positions in project supervision, project management, pre-construction, sales and trades leadership.

Napper is a graduate of Ferris State University.

McGovern

McGovern had been president of construction since 2010.

In 2014, he assumed the COO title.

As COO, McGovern will continue to implement and integrate the company’s core resources, such as human resources and information technology, within its three divisions: development, construction and property management.
