The Right Place ranks among top 18 in US
The Right Place’s work has landed it in a select group of its peers across the country.
Global Trade Magazine has recognized The Right Place in Grand Rapids, a regional economic development nonprofit, as the only Michigan-based agency in its inaugural ranking of “America’s Leading EDCs,” or economic development corporations, for The Right Place’s creative and effective methods for attracting business to the region.
Global Trade says the 18 EDCs in the ranking are “re-writing the laws of attraction” for businesses.
Birgit Klohs, president and CEO of The Right Place, said the recognition is very significant for the organization.
“To be acknowledged for our international success by this well-known publication validates that The Right Place has become a global resource for business success in West Michigan,” Klohs said.
Richard Breon, president and CEO of Spectrum Health and board chair of The Right Place, said the value the organization brings to West Michigan will produce dividends for years to come.
“This ranking reiterates the importance of having a leading economic development organization like The Right Place servicing West Michigan businesses,” Breon said.
Since its establishment in 1985, The Right Place has offered business retention, expansion and attraction services to companies in West Michigan.
The Right Place says it has attracted more than $4 billion in capital investment and 40,000 jobs to the region in a 30-year period.
The organization also helped create The Manufacturers Council in 1989, which serves as a collaborative voice for the manufacturing industry, and it manages the West Michigan-based MiDevice medical device consortium.
