An interior design firm and an architecture firm are partnering to develop a building with offices and ground-floor retail in the downtown of a Grand Rapids suburb.

Dawn Marie Coe of DMC Design and Ken Dixon of Dixon Architecture, acting together as Ada First LLC, will develop the two-story building at 523 Ada Dr. SE in the Ada Village redevelopment.

The building will have two second-floor office suites that will house the two firms.

Three retail units will be on the first floor and are available for lease.

The building is scheduled for completion this fall.

Dixon Architecture is serving as the architect on the project, and Grand Rapids-based First Companies is the project’s contractor. Grand River Bank in Grandville is providing financing for the project.

“After seeing what was proposed by the Envision Ada process, we were excited to be part of this new vision for Ada, enhancing the small village feel, while growing businesses and retail that serves our community,” said DMC’s Coe, who’s also the firm’s chief creative officer.

DMC Design said the project is among the first of the new Ada Village redevelopment and will serve as an example for the village’s future development, as it aligns with new codes and ordinances to improve greenways, walkability and commerce.
