Firm plans $10M redevelopment of former foundry

A developer is embarking on a $10-million transformation of a former foundry in the region.

Kalamazoo-based Treystar said it would partner with several state and local partners on the renovation of the site in Kalamazoo’s River’s Edge District, at 600 E. Michigan Ave.

There currently is no timeline for the project.

“Treystar is excited to re-define this historically rich space with modern upgrades, while preserving its unique integrity and paying homage to its past,” said Fritz Brown, Treystar’s development and leasing manager on the project.

The 52,000-square-foot property would be a mixed-use project, including office space and on-site dining.

A new traffic light would also be added to E. Michigan Avenue and Harrison Street.

The firm said the project’s financing would include brownfield credits.

Treystar’s Robert Brown is overseeing the site’s redevelopment.
