Bank plans $1M HQ makeover
A bank in the area is giving its headquarters an upgrade.
ChoiceOne Bank said today that it’s planning to invest more than $1 million to renovate its Sparta headquarters, at 109 E. Division St., to update the facility and address the growing needs of customers.
The project is scheduled to begin in May and be completed by the end of the year.
Kelly Potes, president of ChoiceOne Bank, said the community bank has been serving families and businesses from its flagship location in Sparta for nearly 117 years.
“We are excited to begin this major renovation project in 2016,” Potes said. “This project is a win-win for our customers, our employees and our community.”
ChoiceOne Bank plans to completely remodel the exterior and interior of its headquarters.
“With the recent growth we are experiencing and our expansion into the Grand Rapids market, it is time to update our flagship office with the latest technology and architecture that allows us to meet the growing needs of our customers,” Potes said. “It’s very exciting.”
The project’s goal is to improve customer experience through improved access and technology options, such as enhanced drive-through service and interactive pod teller stations, according to Angela Anderson, marketing officer, ChoiceOne Bank.
ChoiceOne Bank plans to partner with Thompson-Phelan Group in Anchorville, a design and construction firm with experience working with financial institutions, to serve as the lead designer and contractor for the project.
James Bosserd, CEO of ChoiceOne Bank, said the bank has worked with Thompson-Phelan Group on building and remodeling its other offices.
“As bankers, we are always in the business of building trust,” Bosserd said. “We have built a long-lasting relationship with the Thompson-Phelan team and trust they will do an outstanding job for us and our Sparta community.”
ChoiceOne Bank has additional offices in Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon and Newaygo Counties.
The community bank offers personal and business banking, loans and mortgages and investment services.
ChoiceOne Bank is affiliated with the holding company ChoiceOne Financial Services, which was founded in 1898 in Sparta.
As of Dec. 31, 2015, ChoiceOne Financial Services had total assets of nearly $568 million and anticipated opening a Grand Rapids office.
