A local maker of emissions systems is closing a plant and laying off about 150 workers.

Bosch Emissions Systems US filed notice yesterday with the Michigan Workforce Development Agency that it will cease operations at one of its Kentwood plants, at 4700 Broadmoor Ave. SE, no later than Sept. 30, 2017.

The company says most of the 150 positions housed at the facility will be eliminated permanently between August and September 2017.

“Some associates may be re-assigned or qualify for open positions within other Bosch locations,” the company says.

All full-time salaried exempt and non-exempt associates will receive severance under the company's standard severance policy.

Bosch says all associates who are impacted have already been notified of the closure.

Bosch will continue to operate a second facility in Kentwood, according to the notice.

The Bosch Group comprises Robert Bosch GmbH and its roughly 440 subsidiaries in 60 countries.

Including sales and service partners, Bosch’s global manufacturing and sales network covers some 150 countries.
