Hospital and home health provider form joint venture
A local hospital has entered a joint venture with a home health care provider.
Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids announced last week the agreement with Troy-based Residential Home Health, which became effective immediately.
The joint venture, known as Mary Free Bed at Home, is a Medicare-certified home health provider.
The designation allows the hospital to provide customized in-home care, including skilled nursing, physical and occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, medical social work and nutrition services.
Services also include advanced tele-health monitoring, a mobile alert system with 24-hour access to a nurse, specialized programs for chronic conditions and assistance with insurance questions.
“Patients benefit by being able to arrange multiple, specialized services with just one phone call,” said Kent Riddle, CEO, Mary Free Bed.
Mike Lewis, CEO of Residential Home Health, said West Michigan patients will benefit from the combination of “expertise and capabilities” resulting from the joint venture.
Residential Home Health operates in Michigan and Illinois.
The organization said it has received multiple recognitions for its patient care and as a top employer.
Mary Free Bed is an acute-care hospital providing comprehensive rehabilitation services at sites across Michigan.
A consortium of 26 general acute-care hospitals are also members of the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Network.
