A locally based restaurant company with plans for further growth has a new president.

Meritage Hospitality Group said last week that it has appointed Gary Rose to the role.

Rose will also retain his position as COO.

As president and COO, Rose will oversee operations of the company by monitoring and directing the implementation of strategic plans.

He will also remain involved in financial decisions driving the long-term growth strategies of Meritage.

Rose has been with Meritage for 11 years.

“Gary has a wealth of operational and financial experience and has been a key member of the executive team as we have grown,” said Robert Schermer Jr., CEO, Meritage Hospitality Group.

Schermer added that the company is expanding its leadership team "in preparation" for its "next five-year growth plan" to operate 285 restaurants by 2021.

Rose graduated from Cedarville College in Ohio and worked for six years at Deloitte & Touche in Grand Rapids.

He’s also worked for several private equity companies, where he gained experience in financial engineering and acquisition management.
