Authorities said an investigation is ongoing after a man was fatally shot after a holdup at a credit union in the area.

Grand Rapids police said today that 38-year-old Frank Anthony Kelley of Kent County died in Monday morning's shooting after pointing a gun at an officer.

The robbery took place in Wyoming.

Police chased a car through three communities until calling off the pursuit when the driver became more reckless on the road.

Two Kentwood officers later found the stopped car. Cash was on the ground and inside the vehicle.

Police said the driver saw the officers and started running, before he was shot in a backyard in Grand Rapids.

The Kentwood officers are on administrative leave.
