Breweries collaborate on IPA
A local brewery is collaborating on a new beer with one of its sister breweries.
Perrin Brewing Co. in Comstock Park and Tampa, Florida-based Cigar City Brewing will brew an imperial white IPA on Thursday.
Perrin Director of Operations John Stewart and Cigar City Head Brewer Wayne Wambles teamed up for the recipe.
Cigar City joined Oskar Blues Holding Co. in March. A year prior, Perrin and new owner Keith Klopcic joined Oskar Blues Holding Co., which is financed by Boston-based Fireman Capital.
White Noise is an IPA made with wheat, unmalted wheat and flaked oats, which help add a creaminess to the beer without adding color.
Fermented with Belgian yeast, the beer will have notes of lemon grass, juniper berries and grains of paradise.
It will be available in late July in 22-ounce bottles at Perrin, at 5910 Comstock Park Dr., and Michigan retailers.
Perrin was founded in 2012 and has grown into one of the largest brewing companies in Michigan, brewing 14,000 barrels of beer in 2014. The company expects to brew about 27,500 barrels this year.
A barrel is about 31 gallons.
Last spring, the brewery joined Longmont, Colorado-based Oskar Blues Brewery in Oskar Blues Holding Co.
