A statewide association of subcontractors has named the finalists for the state’s contractor of the year.

The American Subcontractors Association of Michigan, or ASAM, revealed yesterday the nominees for the seventh-annual Michigan Contractor of the Year Award, or MCOY.

The winner will be announced during a dinner on Oct. 13 in Grand Rapids at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park at 6 p.m.

The members of ASAM will vote on the winner based on several factors: bid ethics and practice, safety, job supervision, communication, scheduling, project relations, lien processes, administrative procedures, payment terms and workmanship.

ASAM President Matt Fennema said the nominated contractors are helping the entire state grow.

“Behind every job site, there is a team of construction professionals working diligently to maintain the highest standards,” Fennema said. “These nominees are intentional in their success, and they’re raising the bar for the entire industry.”
