Ford airport books best-ever month
July was the busiest month ever at Gerald R. Ford International Airport.
The airport reported today that 238,237 total passengers traveled through the airport during the month, a 1.69-percent increase from the previous record month of July 2015, with a tally of 234,282 total passengers.
The airport is on pace to break its annual passenger total, as it is already 3.24 percent ahead of its passenger total from 2015.
Through July, Ford airport has served 1,537,465 passengers this year.
“Month after month, our numbers are increasing,” said Phil Johnson, acting president and CEO, Ford airport.
Johnson said the airport will continue to work with its airline partners on adding seats and flights to existing and new destinations to accommodate travelers.
He also spoke about the importance of the airport’s Gateway Transformation Project, which is under construction.
“These numbers further justify the need for our Gateway Transformation Project and the importance of our facilities keeping on pace with the passenger demand,” Johnson said. “Our investment in this project represents our commitment to improve amenities, infrastructure, technology and customer service from our growing passenger base.”
