A café in town is closing its storefront to focus on its catering business and to start a wholesale operation.

Silverberry in Grand Rapids said yesterday that it will close its "European specialty café," at 4029 Plainfield Ave. NE, on Sept. 15.

The company will also pause its catering business, which it will re-launch in February. Silverberry will also launch its wholesale business at that time.

The focus on catering and wholesale comes as the company’s catering has become its “greatest strength,” Silverberry owner Angela Specter said.

Many of the company’s “customer favorites” will still be available online and at special events.

Silverberry specializes in pastries and desserts, such as croissants, danishes, tarts and crepes.

The company opened its storefront two years ago.
