The general manager of a local fast-food location has been named one of the top 10 GMs by a global chain.

Laurie Reimer was named one of the top GMs in 2016 by Wendy’s. The chain serves more than 6,500 locations.

Reimer is GM of the location at 4694 West River Rd. in Comstock Park, which is operated by Grand Rapids-based franchisee Meritage Hospitality Group, the operator of nearly 200 Wendy’s locations in the U.S.

Reimer was one of 10 “best of the best” honorees at the inaugural GM Conference held by Wendy’s in Dublin, Ohio.

More than 200 general managers in the Wendy’s chain were invited to the conference.

Many of the managers recognized started their Wendy’s careers as crew members and are now running locations with $1.5 million or more in annual sales, Wendy’s EVP and COO Bob Wright said.

“The general manager plays an absolutely critical role in our restaurants,” Wright said. “They are living examples of the opportunities available in the restaurant industry, where people can gain important skills and advance through their own hard work, initiative and abilities."

Peter Garnica, of a Wendy’s in Batavia, Illinois, won the overall title of the fast-food chain’s best general manager in 2016.
