A Grand Rapids bakery is opening a café downtown this Saturday.

Field & Fire is hosting the grand opening for its new café in the 616 Lofts on Monroe development, at 820 Monroe Ave. NW, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday

The café will serve pastries, coffee, breakfast and lunch.

“It seems like it’s a logical up-and-coming neighborhood,” Field & Fire Owner Shelby Kibler told the Business Journal in April. “It’s still a bit of a gamble, but a lot of growth is pointing in that direction. We’re banking on it being a great, thriving neighborhood.”

The company will feature an expanded pastry selection with “authentic European-style" breakfast and dessert items and a new selection of whole grain breads at Field & Fire Café, as well as at Field & Fire in the Downtown Market.

The bakery distributes its wood-fired bread and croissants to more than 25 accounts across the city.

Ground-floor retail tenants at the site also include City Built Brewery, Fido & Stitch, Beer City Barre and CKO Kickboxing.
